
Breaking Barriers: Inclusive Scuba Diving for the Visually Impaired

Drishti Marine, in collaboration with Dive Goa, the National Association for the Blind (NAB), and the National Institute of Water Sports (NIWS), conducted a groundbreaking scuba diving experience for visually impaired individuals. Held at the NIWS pool in Dona Paula, this initiative introduced 13 visually impaired students and staff to the underwater world through a tactile and sensory-based approach, redefining accessibility in adventure sports.

Key Features of the Activity
Hands-On Scuba Gear Familiarization: Participants were guided on using scuba gear, including breathing apparatus and dive signals, ensuring a safe and enriching experience.
Safety-First Approach: With a dedicated team of divers and safety personnel, the event was conducted adhering to the highest safety standards.
Empowerment Through Experience: This unique underwater adventure allowed participants to experience confidence, peace, and a sense of freedom like never before.
What Makes This Initiative Special?
Inclusive Adventure: First-ever scuba diving training tailored for visually impaired participants, focusing on the sensations of weightlessness, freedom of movement, and tactile exploration.
Comprehensive Training: Participants learned essential scuba skills, including breathing techniques, underwater communication, and the use of dive gear, under the guidance of certified instructors.
Expert Collaboration: The event was executed with the expertise of Drishti Marine, Dive Goa (including instructors certified by Disabled Divers International), and NIWS.
